WEIGHT LOSS A VERY COMPLEX ISSUE AND I'M STILL LOSING There are many wonderful diets, or should I say, Nutritional programs out there that really work. The trick is to find the one that works for you, not only with weight loss but also lifestyle. I have tried many of them, usually because I have only needed to lose 15 to 20 pounds so I didn't need to stay on them for an extended period of time. I have always believed in eating a good nutritious diet but I do get lazy (like most everyone else) and I go through times of just grabbing the first thing I see to calm my hunger. I have really been struggling with my weight now for about 12 years. I gained over 40 pounds in a few months because of medication that I was on for 2 1/2 years. When I was able to get off the medication I thought 'Great, I'll get this weight off quick and be just fine.' Well guess what, it didn't work, even on the most proven methods. That doesn't mean the program didn't work, it just means that it didn't fit into my lifestyle, so I would let go of it. For example 'Weight Watchers', one of the best programs I know. Back when I was a teenager it was great to drop a few pounds here and there. I loved it. But now it has become so complex because that is what people want, and I don't want to spend that much time planning and figuring everything out. So I quit! Well, I have found the perfect program for me. It is called Fat loss 4 Idiots and I love it. I have lost weight and it fits my lifestyle AND the way I love to eat which is very plain and simple. There is a program for meat eaters and vegetarians. I have been on it for 6 weeks now and I love the results. I weighed about 212 pounds. When we came home I decided once again to change my diet and get this weight off. For almost 3 months, I ate very little sugar and just cut my portions down and ate a lot of fruits and vegetables. I was always hungry but I stuck to it and I lost 12 pounds. That's not too bad for being hungry all the time. In March I signed up for a computer course over the Internet to learn about creating my own web site on health and wellness and as I was searching for information to share, I came across this and it really interested me. You stay on the plan for 11 days then you take 3 days off. Hey, it already took me almost 3 months to lose 12 pounds, how would it be to lose 9 lbs. in 11 days. It sounded really good to me and they offer both a vegetarian and regular program. FIRST ROUND - I downloaded the e book and on Monday, May 12th, 2008 I began. I chose to do the vegetarian diet even though I am not a vegetarian. It was wonderful. I wasn't hungry and I enjoyed the food. Plain and simple, just like ME. On that day I weighed 201.5 lbs. and ended my 11th day at 194 lbs. Now that is only a loss of 7 1/2 lbs. But I was very very careful on my 3 days off of the diet although I did have some rice, corn, and CHOCOLATE and I still lost another 1 1/2 lbs. So I did lose 9 lbs total for my first 2 weeks. Not bad huh! SECOND ROUND - My next 11 days began May 26th. and I weighed 192.5 lbs. I decided to do the regular program with meat and it was much harder on my system. I enjoy meat, but it was way too much for me, nevertheless I stuck to it. I only lost 3 1/2 lbs, but I wasn't discouraged because in 1 month I had a total loss of 12 lbs. Remember, it took me almost 3 months to lose the first 12 pounds. THIRD ROUND - June 9th, I weighed in at 185 lbs. I have lost a total of 16 1/2 pounds in the 6 weeks since I started this program. Now I must admit I deviated from the diet this past week. I have another program on my website which is called Acne Free in 3 days. I ended on June 20th with a loss of 3 lbs and I now weigh 182 lbs. A total loss of 18 lbs on this diet and 12 lbs from the 3 months before for a total of 30 lbs. since February. I will continue on this Fat Loss for Idiots because I am really enjoying the food. I have more energy and I am fitting into clothes that have hung in my closet for about 8 years that I couldn't get into. Another exciting note. My 82 year old Dad has been on this program for 2 weeks and he has lost 10 lbs. Whats even more exciting is that he has had a lot of digestive problems for many years and in the first week of the diet, he cut his medication in half. He is a big meat eater so he has really enjoyed the regular program. FOURTH ROUND - I began my 11 day program again on June 23rd, and ended on July 7th. Because I had lost a total of 30 pounds since February, I decided to be a bit creative and I combined the regular program with the vegetarian so I could enjoy a little bit of meat. Well, I didn't lose any weight this time. I guess I have hit my first plateau on this diet. That's ok though, I am going to the gym 3 or 4 times a week and my clothes are still fitting me better so I have absolutely nothing to complain about. My Dad didn't do very well though, he cheated on the program his first 2 weeks and still lost 10 lbs, so he cheated a lot this past 2 weeks and gained back 4 lbs. FIFTH ROUND - Ended on Fri. July 25th. I didn't lose any weight again this time but there is still some GOOD NEWS. I wore a dress on Thursday night that I couldn't get into 6 weeks ago. It fit really well with room to spare. So even though the scales aren't going down, apparently I am still losing inches. I do go to the gym 3 to 5 times a week and they say that muscle weighs more than fat. I guess it's true. I am still enjoying the program immensley. My Dad did better this week and lost 7 lbs. SIXTH ROUND - Today is Aug. 1st, 2008, I lost another 2 pounds. I weighed in at 179.5 lbs. A total loss of 21 lbs. in 2 1/2 months on this program, but a total loss of 33 lbs since February. WARNING - WARNING - WARNING SEPTEMBER 4, 2008 - I know many people who have started this program only to get very discouraged because they go crazy on their 3 days off and put a lot of their weight back on. When I said that I lost weight eating chocolate, corn and potatoes on my first free weekend, I only ate a little bit and I still ate my 4 meals a day and I was very very careful. PLEASE BE WISE, that is the only way you can get the weight off and keep it off. I have only lost 2 lbs. this past month but I have changed from the 11 day program that I have talked about to the 10 day program which gives you 6 meals a day. You can only access that one from the $39.99 plan. It is called BEYOND CALORIES I like it even better. There are more foods on the list and I can eat more often. I don't think that I have ever been able to eat all 6 meals, but emotionally and psychologically it is nice to know that I could. To be able to eat more and still lose is great!  OCTOBER 4TH, 2008 - Here I am after a total weight loss of 42 lbs. since February and I am still losing. HOORAY!
November 29th, 2008 - I lost another couple of pounds the since October, then came THANKSGIVING. In fact, I had 2 Thanksgiving dinners because some of my children go out of town for the holiday and we wanted an early Thanksgiving dinner all together. So now the moment of truth. Yesterday I got on the scales and I had gained 6 1/2 pounds. I really enjoyed myself and didn't worry about 'diet'. But you know, it's just fine because I got back on track (even though I had 2 pieces of pumpkin pie) and I have lost 1 1/2 pounds in the past 24 hours. I plan to get ALL 6 1/2 pounds off for Christmas, probably gain it all back on Christmans goodies, then get it off again in January. February 14th, 2009 - THE DREADED PLATEAU. Here it is Valentines Day, and I weigh the same as I did at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Yes, during the holidays I did gain some weight, but I kept it within 6 pounds. The problem is, I have lost those same 6 pounds many times in the past 4 months. I can't seem to break it. Of course I haven't been staying strictly with the program. I get a few pounds off, then someone offers me some 'goodies' and I take them up on it, OR I get too busy and I only eat 2 meals a day. That is NOT enough food to keep my metabolism from going into starvation mode and hanging on to the weight. Well, next week I am going on a gall bladder cleanse for 3 days. Maybe that will help me get back on the program and I can get these last 15 pounds off.
